Unfortunately, my DVDs and computers were stolen so I can't really participate, but I remember cringing at Max's greed. Enjoying everything else, mind, but... I grew up with archaeology (my father is an archaeologist, I studied it and work at a maintained archaeological site) and just never liked how JMS handles archaeologists.

So, uhm. Yeah, sorry, carry on :|.

I also have archaeological training, and, through involvement in the maritime side of it, I have come across members of commercial salvage companies calling themselves archaeologists (I have no idea of their professional credentials or otherwise - but what they do is essentially treasure hunting).
:-(
I admit and regret that I have no problem in believing that the likes of IPX will emerge. That doesn't mean that there will be no academic archaeology in the 23rd century, but (fortunately, I guess) it is not the kind of thing to be mentioned in what is essentially a political tale.
