Rewatch for Season 3, Episode 5 - Voices of Authority
Rewatch for Season3, Episode 5 – Voices of Authority
Here are the recaps from VJS2259, right after the 2016 election:
Dreamwidth
Livejournal
And more details from The Lurker’s Guide to Babylon 5
VJS2259 made the comment that she no longer knew why she’d wanted to recap this one since we’d just elected Emperor Cartagia… and in this episode, we see the chilling change that is taking place on Earth and, by extension, on Babylon 5.
The voice of earth is Julie Musante – a representative of the delightful Ministry of Peace and its citizen spies, Nightwatch.
She arrives and begins to inform the Nightwatch that Earthgov has decided to widen their scope by not only looking at citizens but at looking at their past associations and such. She is unpleasant and ready to take one for the team with Sheridan who doesn’t buy in.
All the while, Draal has contacted them and said they should try to contact some of the old races who may still be lurking about. Ivanova goes down to the planet in Sheridan’s place and take a magic carpet ride out into the galaxy.

She and Marcus take a White Star out to hunt the older race while John stays home and deals with the Gestapo dolly. They meet the Tiki god!

OH, and the video of Clark talking about being glad Santiago is dead with Morden congratulating him. – EWWW!
Zach sits on the fence in his ill-fitting suit and we wait for the other shoe to drop, which is imminent now.

And G’Kar knows something is up and leave Garibaldi the Book of G’quan.

1. I have to say the new Political Officer reminded me of the president’s press secretaries… and of Kellyanne Conway. Who did she bring to mind for you?
2. What did you think of the ancient ‘tiki man’, as VJS2259 called him? Impressed?
3. Was it me or did Susan look even better than usual in this one?
4. Why did G’Kar give Garibaldi the book of G’Quan?
5. Who were all the voices of authority?

2. Impressed at the animation of the time.

How awesome would it have been for Garibaldi to tell Zack that code 7-R was a date or a therapy group for those who are tired of the UST between Londo and G'Kar.
(The thing I loved perhaps most about this episode? That back in the 90's they didn't wax men's chests.)
