Sorry for being a day late for this one. We have company this week.

Rewatch for Season 5, Episode 3 – The Paragon of Animals
Frist the recaps:
Dreamwidth.
Livejournal.
And, of course, The Lurker’s Guide to Babylon 5.
Now that’s out of the way, let’s talk episode.
Time to sign the Declaration of Principles and a big bunch of Ambassadors refuse to sign, led by a vocal and annoying Drazi. My alarm bells rang right there – especially considering the episode opened on some people hiding from raiders and hoping the Rangers can get them help from the Alliance. Of course, the Drazi had to be in on it.
Byron points out to Lyta that she is being used by others – and she finally comes around to seeing that at the end of the ep after she scanned a dying man and talked to Byron about providing Teeps to the Alliance as spies. This the unhoyu alliance of melodrama is begun – sorry, but I dislike telepaths and Byron in particular.
Garibaldi is lurking about, doing dirty work for the Alliance – in this, he’s hunting teeps for spies and urging a show of force to the Raiders from the Alliance. He reminds me of the song “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”.
G’kar finishes the Declaration as we get to hear it… and then he submits a new one to Sheridan, who comments that it’s even better but we never hear it. The first one is fantastic and you gotta love G’kar and his noble ideals.
The Declaration of Principles:

So here are some questions:
1. Did you suspect the Drazi form the beginning?
2. How DID the Ranger get to the Enphili homeworld?
3. If Teeps work on line of sight, then how does Byron hear everything everywhere – like he does when he spies on Alliance meetings and such? I know he says that people broadcast but that doesn’t explain how much he ‘hears’.
4. Do you think we can assume the Drazi stopped supporting the raiders, or not?
5. Why does Byron act so offended that Sheridan actually wants him to do as he said and earn his keep? Did the think they’d make the telepaths manual workers instead?
Note: If you haven’t figured it out, I dislike Telepaths and there will seldom be one that I wish had not been left out of the show. I realllly don’t like the whole Byron/Lyta story line in this season.
