This is the discussion post for "Genius Loci" by JMS. Spoilers for the whole of the series, including the spin-offs and tie-ins, are allowed here so newbies beware.
Next week, we'll be discussing "Time, Space, and the Incurable Romantic", also by JMS.

Date: 2012-09-17 12:06 pm (UTC)Lyta instinctely referring not just to the Corps telepath in general but also to a Psi Cop as "my people" is an interesting characterisation touch and reminds me again that in s5, post Byron's death, one of the ironies is that she resembles Bester more and more. Mind you (no pun intended), Lyta in this story is far more balanced than she was when we leave her in s5; clearly travelling with G'Kar is good for her.
The solution to the mystery was a bit obvious (at least if you know your sci fi short stories), but that's not the point of the story.

Date: 2012-09-21 10:49 pm (UTC)This exchange had me chortling and see him in my mind's eyes so very clearly
A tray of food was spread out before the pallet where the elder half lay, half sat, considering
his guest. "You do not eat, Citizen G'Kar," he said.
"In due time," G'Kar said.
"You have questions."
G'Kar smiled. "It seems questions are all I am fated ever to have, it seems," he said.
"Nothing would please me more than to stumble across an answer from time to time, but
that does not appear to be a real possibility."
I'd love to see a book of The Travels of G'Kar and Lyta - I think perhaps she could learn a lot from G'Kar and He'd haev a blast with her. Maybe that would make a nice fanfic challenge someday.
I have read the next one on the list but am ready to reread it! I am really liking these short stories!
